Geschichten, die nicht im Roman geblieben sind.
W.H. HARTMANN - SONGS
Sechs Songs aus der Welt von "Liebe. Schuld.
Sondern was Menschen in eine solche Beziehung treibt.
„The storytelling is world-class.“

Lyrics - You Called It A Game
I’m closing in on sixty, gray across my brow
You’re barely thirty-eight, and living for the "now"
I watched you hide that gold band, slipping off your hand
Like we were building castles in a stretch of desert sand
I was just a secret, a thrill to pass the night
But you were every shadow, and you were all my light
Twenty years between us, a canyon wide and deep
I gave you every promise that you never meant to keep.
I saw the way you looked at me, I thought I saw a home
But I was just a playground where you’d come to roam
You walked back to your husband when the sun began to rise
While I stayed in the wreckage with the fever in my eyes.
YOU CALLED IT A GAME, BUT TO ME IT WAS LOVE!
You were just a traveler, I was where you’d stop
You had a life waiting, I had only us
YOU CALLED IT A GAME, BUT TO ME IT WAS LOVE!
I’m just an old man acting like a goddamn fool
Breaking every heart-law, breaking every rule!
You walked away easy, like it didn't mean a thing
But I’m still here, choking on the songs I’ll never sing.
Now the screen is cold and blue, at three A.M. again
I’m sending "are you there?" like a prayer to the wind
You blocked the door, you cut the wire, you left me in the dark
But I’m still writing letters... still searching for a spark
Do you tell him where you’ve been when you’re lying in your bed?
Do you hear my raspy voice inside your pretty head?
I’m a fool for sending messages you’re never gonna read
Just an old man digging for a ghost he doesn't need.
My fingers shake, I hit "send" just to feel alive
One more "I miss you," how do I survive?
I’m a ghost in your inbox, a shadow on your street
Staring at a silence that is bitter, cold, and sweet!
You played the hand, I gave it all up!
You had a house waiting, I had only us!
You walked away easy ...
While I’m still here ... choking on the dust!
I’m fifty-nine years old ...
And I’m still writing, baby.
... send.
